Shawn started out as an aircraft mechanic over 20 years ago. After earning his commercial pilot’s license, Shawn flew turbo-props and small jets for a medevac company based in Anchorage, Alaska. When on the ground, he also pursued his interest in designing and building aluminum boats. This interest in well-designed systems sparked a new path for Shawn. After a 10 year flying career, he moved into designing and installing off-grid power systems in remote areas of Alaska. Working in the alternative power industry soon led Shawn back into the world of boats and their electrical systems, a field which brought together Shawn’s diverse skill sets. In 2008, he moved to Bellingham with his wife and children to pursue a career in the marine electrical field, opening Pacific Marine Electric in 2011. Shawn is ABYC certified in Marine Electrical and Corrosion and is passionate about providing professional service completed to the highest standards.
With a knack for all things mechanical and an eye for detail Jason dove head first into the marine trades as part of a crew refitting a 90 foot yacht. The combination of being on the water along with the diverse and complex systems found on boats, he knew he had found his calling. From there he went to work for a local boat manufacturer as a rigger commissioning new boats and increasing his skill set. Over the following years Jason began working on more complicated systems and commissioning larger yachts where his attention to detail and innovative ideas set his work apart from the rest. He loves big projects, complicated systems, and no compromises when it comes to function and the appearance of the final product.
“I look forward to the challenges yet to come as we work to make the dreams and the impossible a reality for our clients and customers.”
